it would be far better if you’d review the evidence and make up your own mind, and then suggest to the "experts" what they should be saying.

I don’t think you quite understand. Economists haven’t been "leading" us as you say. We live in a democracy, with a "free market". I think you may want to learn how are economy and our government function because to be quite frank you question doesn’t make any sense. it doesn’t matter if we trust economists or not, they don’t control the economy….you do!
